Automotive example: Performing a smooth running test

September 28, 2015

A new lab scope measurement example about performing a smooth running test is available. This measurement is performed using an automotive oscilloscope, measure leads and back probes.

When an engine shows signs of running troublesome or has misfires, a smooth running test can be performed to check the condition of main input and output signals of the motor management system. The measurement can show whether crankshaft sensor and camshaft sensor signals are correctly timed and whether the injector and ignition signals are present and correctly timed. The results of the measurements at idle and raised engine speeds are shown and a settings file with the measured data can be downloaded.
