Automotive examples: EGR valve DC motor and position sensor

April 3, 2013

Two new measurement examples about the EGR valve are available: one about a DC motor of a controlled EGR valve and one about an EGR valve position sensor. These measurements were performed using an automotive oscilloscope, measure leads and back probes.

Correct functioning of the EGR valve is essential for optimal engine performance. These two new measurements can be used to check the functioning of an EGR valve. The workings of both the EGR valve actuator and sensor are described, with the necessary steps to perform these measurements yourself. Both articles show the results of measurements in graphs and contain downloadable settings files with measured data.
