Automotive example: RFS400 diesel return flow measurement

November 4, 2014

A new lab scope measurement example about a RFS400 diesel return flow measurement is available. This measurement is performed using the Diesel Return Flow Sensor RFS400, an automotive oscilloscope and measure leads.

Modern diesel engines use common rail technology with electronically controlled injectors that have a hydraulic circuit to activate the injector. This circuit uses diesel fuel as hydraulic fluid, which is returned to the fuel tank. This return flow can be measured with a Diesel Return Flow Sensor RFS400 to check the condition of the injector. The article explains how the Diesel Return Flow Sensor RFS400 works and how the measurement is performed on the diesel return flow of the injectors. A settings file with the measured data can be downloaded.
